Floyd Orin Rourke

Floyd Orin Rourke, holder of the Distinguished Conduct Medal, was a Lance Corporal in A Company on April 26, 1945 when his platoon commander and the senior NCO's of his platoon where hit by enemy fire during an assault on Gruppenbhüren, Germany.
Floyd Rourke took command of his platoon. With his platooncommander dead, he led the remnants of his platoon over 1200 yards of open ground, then took an additional bound to knock out a German 88mm gun.
