Original Unit History for the 125th AAA Gun Battalion, printed by Joseph Van In & Co, Lier, Belgium, 1945.
The 125th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion was a unit of the US Army in World War II, specializing in defense against German V-1 flying bombs (buzz bombs) and aircrafts. The battalion protected crucial strategic locations, including London, Cherbourg, and Brussels, and played an important role in Operation Antwerp X.
It used 90 mm anti-aircraft guns, radar systems, and searchlights. It had a high success rate against V-1 bombs, with one report claiming 269 V-1s destroyed. It operated under difficult conditions, particularly in ‘Buzz Bomb Alley’, where it worked 24 hours a day during the operation to destroy V-1s.
