John Gladwyn Forshey from Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County, Ohio was born on July 27, 1917, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, to Harry S. Forshey and Margaret Gordon.

John G. Forshey enlisted on November 25, 1942 in Akron, Ohio. John took some of his training at Camp Atterbury, Indiana before going to the European Theatre of Operations (ETO) and was a S/Sgt. in the 83rd Infantry Division, 331st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Hq Company.

Morning Report of July 9, 1944 lists John G. Forshey as Lightly Wounded in Action (LWA) and transfered to 128th Evacuation Hospital in Normandy.
After Action Reports from April 1945 lists S/Sgt. Forshey as a Non-Battle Casualty (NBC) on December 18, 1944 while his unit was fighting in the Hurtgen Forest in the Lendersdorf area.
After Action Reports from April 1945 lists John G. Forshey as a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal
for distinguishing himselve by meritorious service and/or heroic achievement and/or meritorious achievement in connection with Military operations against an enemy of the United States during the month April 1945.

John married his second wife, Evelyn Louise Wiles on September 2, 1950 in Indiana. John G. Forshey died in January, 1979.
