Jules Henry Deshotels Jr. was born on July 21, 1907 in Iota, Louisiana. He was the youngest son of four children to Jules H. Deshotels Sr. (1883-1955) and Mary Agnes (Doucet) Deshotels (1886-1911). His father married a second time with Amelia (Fontenot) Deshotels (1880-1954) and they had 3 children.

He married with   Virginia (Cole) Deshotels (1914-1988). Jules Deshotels Jr. passed away on May 15, 1967 and is buried at the Kaplan Cemetery, Kaplan, Vermilion Parish County, Louisiana.
