George R. Whitehead or better known as Russel 'Russ' Whitehead was a Rifleman Scout in 3rd Platoon, F Company of the 329th Infantry Regiment. He got into the service on July 28, 1944 at Providence, Rhode Island and was on a train heading for Luxembourg 5 months later on December 6, 1944 when he celebrated his 21st birthday.
