Sigmund M. Lesniewski was born on December 4, 1920, in East Chicago, Lake County, Indiana, to Adam Lesniewski (1892-1961) and Sophia Sypulski (1897-1986), who were Polish immigrants.
Sigmund "Ziggie" Lesniewski enlisted (#35562410) on October 12, 1942 in Indianopolis, Indiana. At that time he had a 4 years of high school education, his  civil occupation was listed as "Unskilled molders".
At the end of the war he staged at Camp Phillip Morris, Le Havre, France, before leaving for Ne York with the 8th Armored Division.
Sigmund Liesnewski died on July 7, 1984 in Highland, Lake County, Indiana.
