Corporal William Pitt

William Pitt was born on November 24, 1894, in Spring Valley, Wisconsin as the son of William Pitt, born in England, and Jessie MacFarland Pitt, who was born in Scotland.

William Pitt (#1950180) inducted into the Army on September 19, 1917 in New Castle, Pennsylvania and was assigned to Headquarters Company of the 332nd Infantry until discharge. He served overseas from June 8, 1918 to April 14, 1919 and saw action in the battle of Vittorio-Veneto, Italy. William Pitt promoted to Pvt 1cl on July 16, 1918 and becam the rank of Corporal on December 11, 1918. He was Honorable Discharge on April 24, 1919 at Camp Dix, New Jersey.

William Pitt died on June 23, 1921 (aged 26). He rests beside his parents, William (1858-1917) and Jessie (1863-1950), and brother Edwin at the Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown, Ohio.
