Harry Preston Baublitz was born on January 21, 1919, in Adams, Pennsylvania, to Mary Edna Simpson (1891-1963) and Milton Ellsworth Baublitz (1894-1942).

Harry P. Baublitz entered active service on October 14, 1942, in Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. While stationed at Camp Breckenridge, Cpl. Baublitz married Miss Lillian M. Brown on January 7, 1944. Harry enjoyed a furlough together with his new bride and later returned to Camp Breckinridge. His wife Lillian would stay at the home of her parents for the duration of the war.

As an original member of E Company, 330th Regiment, Harry Baublitz got his baptism of fire on July 4, 1944 outside of Carentan, Normandy. He was wounded during this day by a Pistol bullet in his leg and transferred to the 30rd Station Hospital where he remained until September 7, 1944. Sgt Baublitz then rejoined E Company and remained with them until he was wounded again on December 14, 1944, by Artillery Shell Fragments in buttock, hip and arm, during the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest. He rejoined his unit a final time on February 10 and was promoted to Staff Sergeant on February 28, 1945. For his service he was awarded, among other decorations, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Purple Heart Medal with OCL, the European African Middle-Eastern Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Harry P. Baublitz, died at Hanover Hospital, Pennsylvania age 66 on March 29, 1985. His wife Lillian passed in 2014.
