Photo lot, enveloppe and Garrison Cap identified to Cpl. Walter A. Bernhardt
This is a very nice small grouping of three original WWII photos, an envelope and Garrison Cap belonging to Cpl. Walter A Bernhardt (#33369954) who served with the 83rd Infantry Division, 908th Field Artillery Battalion, Battery A. All three photos are original WW2 era and not reprints or copies, the envelop was sent by Cpl. Walter A. Bernhardt to his wife Mss. Walter A. Bernhardt, 1100 First Ave., Hellertown, Pennsylvania. The original WW2 overseas cap came together with the photos and also belonged to Walter Bernhardt. The Overseas Cap is in tan cotton, to be worn with the cotton shirt and trousers, and has the red Field Artillery/Coast Artillery piping.

Walter Alex Bernhardt was born on June 21, 1919, in Hellertown, Pennsylvania, to Mary Dolhan (1883–1946) and Theodore W Bernhardt (1881–1945). He married Anne Agnes Lapinski in July 1942.
Walter A. Bernhardt entered active service on October 21, 1942 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. During World War Two, he was a gunner of the 1st Howitzer Section, Battery A, 908th Field Artillery Battalion, 83rd Infantry Division. For his service he was awarded, among other decorations, the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the European African Middle-Eastern Campaign Medal .
After the war, Walter Bernhardt was the owner of a rug cleaning business from the 1960s until the 1980s. Previously, he worked in the drafting department of the former Bethlehem Steel Corp.
He died on November 4, 2000 in St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. He was precided in dead by his wife Ann Bernhardt (1923-1989).
