Unit History books group identifeid to Cpl. Lawrence W. Shutts

The Unit History books lot consists, a Unit History for the 83rd Infantry Division, a folding colored pamphlet to the 83rd, 'The Thunderbolt Across Europe' and the two small Unit History booklets of the 83rd Infantry Division nicknamed "Thunderbolt Division". The booklet was printed for all the members of the 83rd Division. The foreword is written by Major General Robert C. Macon, United States Army Commanding.

This copy's once belonged to Cpl. Lawrence W. Shutts (#34547281) who was with Battery A, 323rd Field Artillery Battalion.

Corporal Lawrence W. Shutts

Lawrence William Shutts was born on February 7, 1923, in Jamestown, Ohio, to Carrie Mae Ewry (1895–1948) and Clarence William Shutts (1892–1951). Lawrence grew up in Ohio and moved to Florida, in 1939 when he was 16 years old.

Lawrence William Shutts enlisted in the Army on March 3, 1943, in Camp Blanding, Florida. He was assigned to the 323rd Field Artillery Battalion, 83rd Infantry Division. For his service he was awarded, among other decorations, the Combat Infantry Badge.

Just back from the War, Lawrence Shutts married Patricia Jean 'Patty' Kepler in Volusia, Florida, on June 23, 1946. After 5 years of marriage he and Patricia were divorced in 1951. They married again in 1952. Lawrence William Shutts died on March 4, 2002, in Deland, Florida, when he was 79 years old, he was survived by his wife Patricia Jean 'Patty' Shutts (1927–2021).
