Robert Camis was born as Roberto Camis Flores on June 15, 1915 in Juncos, Puerto Rico to Bienvenida Flores Garcia (1894–1983) and Demetrio Camis (1894–1970). He arrived in the US in 1932 at the age of 17. His divorced mother lived with here parents in the Bronx, NY City, NY. He was worked as a cook in the Blenheim Cafeterias in NY City.

He entered the service as a draftee (#32996398) on August 7, 1943 at New York City, NY. The Morning Report of July 17, 1944 lists 32996398, Camis Robert, Pvt. as MIA (Missed in Action) on July 5, 1944. The Morning Report of July 23, 1944 lists Camis Robert from MIA (Missed in Action) July 5, 1944 to LWA (Lightly Wounded in Action) and transferred to DOP 4174 US Army Hospital Plant APO 121 US Army 15 July 1944

Robert Camis died at age 59, on September 19, 1974 and is buried at the Long Island National Cemetery wich is located in Farmingdale, Suffolk County, New York.
