A three page frontline letter written in Europe on September 26, 1944. (The 83rd Division completed a movement into Luxembourg the day before this letter was written.) There is excellent content in the letter. Hamby wished that the war would end, and he could not see how the Germans could hold on much longer. He states that if the Germans didn't soon give up that they would just have to kill them all, and that perhaps then there would be no more wars and his son would not have to go through the same things that he had.
