This booklet 'A Camera trip through Camp Atterbury' depicts the daily life of the GI and WAC stationed at Camp Atterbury. It features multiple pictures of soldiers of the 83rd Infantry Division training for combat in the ETO. The booklet comes in its original mailing enveloppe mailed by Pvt. Ernest Soucy of Company F, 329th Infantry Regiment to Miss Lena M. Soucy of Bristol, Connecticut, his 2 years older sister.

Private First Class Ernest F. Soucy
Ernest F. Soucy was born on September 7, 1918, in Caribou, Maine, to Louise Delia Gendreau (1896–1974) and Joseph Levite Soucy (1894–1973) who was born in Canada.
Ernest F. Soucy enlisted in the Army on October 14, 1942, in Aroostook, Maine. He was one of the early members of F Company. He was with them at basic training in Camp Atterbury, Indiana, then went to the Tennessee maneuvers and to Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky. Early April, he was stationed at Camp Shanks from where they left the US. They headed for Europe and arrived in Liverpool in April 1944 from where they left for Wales by train. The unit boarded in July 1944 for France but due to heavy weather it took them 5 days to arrive at Omaha Beach. He stayed with Company F for the remainder of the war. For his service he was awarded, among other decorations, the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Good Conduct Medal.
Ernest F. Soucy died on June 4, 1985, in New Britain, Connecticut, when he was 66 years old.
