Listed here are the newspapers published by the 83rd Infantry Division or other newspapers, such as the Stars & Stripes explicitly referencing the 83rd. The 83rd divisional newspapers can be divided into three sections. Firstly 'The Bounce', published during the training period. Secondly 'The Spearhead', published during most of the wartime months the 83rd spend in the ETO. And finally 'The Thunderbolt' which was first published on April 28, 1945 after a contest in The Spearhead decided on Thunderbolt as the new nickname for the 83rd Infantry Division.
On a unit level some newspapers were published such as the 'TTF' for the 331st Infantry Regiment or the 'Gazette' for Hq & Hq Co 330th Infantry Regiment. Lastly is the 'Thunderbolt Times', a daily news bulletin published by the 83rd Division's Public Relations Office while on Occupation Duty in Linz, Austria.
