Combat Infantryman Badge - CIB

Original, 'Sterling' hallmarked, pinback CIB, engraved 'To Mother' of GI 'Kenny'. It bear the insignia of the 83rd Infantry Division. The CIB was awarded to infantrymen (exclusive of medical personnel and chaplains) who, after December 6, 1941, had engaged in ground combat as members of an infantry unit of regimental or smaller size. Awards were made by commanders of infantry divisions, regiments, and separate battalions. This is a rare and hard to find badge.
