Lots of photos of the battles and the soldiers. A listing of casualties and of those men who received citations for medals. A hard to find original Unit History.

Sergeant Peter G. Spambanato

Peter George Spambanato was born in New Haven, Connecticut on September 15, 1920, as the youngest of seven children. All born in the US but with parents of Italian origin. His father Rocco Spambanato worked as a chef in an Italian Restaurant. His mother Mae raised her seven children.

Peter Spambanato enlisted (#31194684) in the U.S. Army on October 14, 1942 in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1944 he was shipped overseas and was among the landing forces post D-Day in Europe. Peter Spambanato was assigned to the 83rd Infantry Division, 331st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, HQ Company. The Morning Reports of august 5, 1944 listed him as promoted to Sergeant. He was discharged on November 16, 1945 at Fort Devens Massachusetts. For his service he was awarded, among other decorations, the Combat Infantryman's Badge.

Upon returning from his service he married Barbara Fininsky and they had one son, Peter Spambanato Jr.
Peter G. Spambanato passed away on December 20, 1970 and is burried at the St. Laurence Cemetery, West Haven, Connecticut.
