Private First Class Alfonso M. Santistevan

Alfonso Max Santistevan was born on March 4, 1912, in Taos, New Mexico, to Maria Celia Mercedes Romero (1887–1957) and Alfonso Aurelio Santistevan (1879–1942).

Alfonso Santistevan enlisted in the Army on March 21, 1944, in Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas, he was 32 years old. On April 6, 1945, he was send overseas and arrived in the ETO on April 17, 1945. The Morning Reports from May 18, 1945 list him as assigned and joined G/331 from the 36th Reinforcement Battalion. At that time, Company G was on occupation duty in Germany. For his service he was awarded, the American Campaign Medal, European African Middle-Eastern Campaign Medal with one Campaign Star for the Central Europe campaign, WW2 Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He died on October 4, 1964, in his hometown at the age of 52, and was buried there. He had four sons and one daughter with Marcelina Sanchez (1910–1997).
