T/4 John G. Mirides

Technician 4th Grade John G. Mirides

John Georges Mirides was born on April 1, 1922, in West Virginia to Despina Paparoftaky (1898–) and George Mirides (1894–). His Greek born father worked as a coal miner. His Greek born mother brought up the couple's three sons and one daughter. John Mirides graduated from Warwood High School.

John G. Mirides enlisted the service (#15324948) on November 25, 1942 at Fort Hayes, Columbus, Ohio. He was going to the European Theatre of Operations (ETO) as a T/4 with the 83rd Infantry Division, Divisional Headquarters Company. The Morning Reports listed him as transferred to 203rd General Hospital as of August 21, 1944, assigned and joined from 203rd General Hospital to Hq/83rd as of September 29, 1944. He was attached to Military Intelegence School, Paris, France as of July 30, 1945.

After the War John married Sharon Luikart on August 19, 1950. John Mirides was a graduate of West Virginia University earning both his B.S. and M.A. degrees. He passed away on July 19, 2002 at Massillon, Ohio, and is buried at the Mount Calvary Cemetery of Morgantown, West Virginia. He was survived by his wife Sharon Mirides (1927-2014).
