Lieutenant Colonel Jules H. Deshotels Jr.
Jules Henry Deshotels Jr. was born on July 21, 1907 in Iota, Louisiana. He was the youngest son of four children to Jules H. Deshotels Sr. (1883-1955) and Mary Agnes (Doucet) Deshotels (1886-1911). His father married a second time with Amelia (Fontenot) Deshotels (1880-1954) and they had 3 children. Jules H. Deshotels Jr. married Alice Virginia Cole in 1939. He advanced to te Rank of Major in July 1942. He, his wife and their two children moved to Camp Atterbury, Indiana at that time.
For his service he was awarded, among other decorations, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
Jules Deshotel Jr. passed away on May 15, 1967, togheter with his wife Virginia (1914-1988) he is buried at the Kaplan Cemetery, Kaplan, Vermilion Parish County, Louisiana.
