Maurice Junior Brown was born on September 25, 1920, in West Virginia to Lena Gertrude Young (1897–1977) and McKinley Hobert Brown (1896–1983)
Maurice Junior Brown enlisted on October 9, 1942 in Huntington, West Verginia. Maurice took some of his training at Camp Atterbury, Indiana before going to the European Theatre of Operations (ETO) and was a T/5 in the 83rd Infantry Division, 331st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Hq Company. Morning Report of July 8, 1944 lists Maurice J. Brown as Seriously Wounded in Action (SWA) and transfered to 34th Evacuation Hospital in Normandy. Morning Report of August 31, 1944 lists Maurice J. Brown as Assigned and joined from 48th replacement battalion to 331st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Hq Company. He stayed with his unit for the remainder of the war until he was Honorable Discharge on November 16, 1945. For his service he was awarded, among other decorations, the Combat Infantryman's Badge awarded, Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
After the war, Maurice Junior Brown was a truck driver. He married Estrial Raye Stump on September 29, 1956, they had two children, both died shortly after birth. First he last his daughter in 1957 and one year later he lost his infant son to circulatory anoxia and congenial heart defect. Maurice Brown died at age 42, on April 9, 1963, at consequences of melanoma malignant. He was survived by his wife Estrial (1928–2009).
