Raymond Heaitley was born on December 6, 1920 in South Carolina to the late Arthur P. (1894-1934) and Lula (Jones) Heaitley (1896-1978).
He lived in Orangsburg County, South Carolina when he enlisted the service (#34865606) on June 2, 1944 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. For his service he was awarded, among other decorations, the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received in action on December 15, 1944.
Raymond Heaitley married Mary G. Kirton. Raymond Heaitley died on March 10, 1972 and is buried, together with his wife Mary (1984), at the Jerusalem Cemetery, Elloree, Orangeburg County, South Carolina.
