Private First Class Samuel Ferrado

Samuel Ferrado was born on August 14, 1920, in New Haven, Connecticut, to Maria Marcella (1897–1982) and Joseph Ferrado(1895–1946). Samuel Ferrado was married on January 10, 1942 in Torrington, Connecticut to Lillian Colangelo (1912-).

Samuel 'Sam' Ferrado served in the military on October 13, 1942 in Hartford, Connecticut, when he was 22 years old. He was one of the early members of Anti-Tank Company. He was with them had basic training in Camp Atterbury, Indiana, then went to the Tennessee maneuvers an to Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky. Early April, 1944 Anti-Tank Company was stationed at Camp Shanks from where they left the US. They headed for Europe aboard the HMT Samaria. He arrived in Liverpool on April 16 from where they left for Wales by train. The unit boarded the SS Lucy Stone on July 19, 1944 for France but due to heavy weather it took them 5 days to arrive at Omaha Beach. He stayed with Anti-Tank Company for the remainder of the war. For his service he was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the European African Middle-Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 campaign stars and the Good Conduct Medal. After the war was over he was transferred to the 7th Armored Division in September 1945 while in Deggendorf, Germany, with this unit he was then discharged. For his service he was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.

Samuel Ferrado died on June 8, 1973, in Broward, Florida, when he was 52 years old and buriad at Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
