Technician 5th Grade William M. Appleton

William Maris Appleton was born on August 23, 1920, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Katherine M. "Kathryn" Clarey (1891–1953) and Maris Louis Appleton (1890–1953).

William M. Appleton enlisted the service (#33304823) on September 20, 1942 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was going to the European Theatre of Operations (ETO) as a T/4 with the 83rd Infantry Division, Divisional Headquarters Company. The Morning Reports listed him as Assigned and joined from HQ, Special Troops, 83rd Infantry Division as of June 26, 1945 an Transferred to Divisional HQ Company, 83rd Infantry Division as of June 27, 1945. Adjusted Service Rating changed from 60 to 65, awarded Bronze Star Medal as of July 12, 1945. For his service in WWII he was awarded, among other decorations, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star Medal.

William M. Appleton married Louise M. Biscan on June 27, 1946. He died on October 6, 2001, he was preceded in dead by his wife Louise (1918–1983).
