Biography and Wartime Service
William McKee, of Three Rivers, Massachusetts was born on July 7, 1922 as the son of Thomas W. and Margaret McKee. He enlisted on October 14, 1942 in Springfield, Massachusetts and was assigned to the 83rd Infantry Division, 331st Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion, D Company. During fierce fighting in and around Sainteny, he was Lightly Wounded in Action and transferred to 96th Evacuation Hospital on July 5, 1944. On November 11, 1944, he was assigned and joined again to D/331 from 79th Replacement Battalion.
William 'Billy' McKee, 93, of Three Rivers, died on August 13, 2015 at the Blaire House in Tewksbury, MA after a short period of failing health.
